Christmas Bell Choir Concert

Bell Choir Concert

Sunday, Dec. 8th 2:30 p.m.

Norway Community Center

The Carillon Bell Choir from the West Winfield area is directed by Cathy Wheat, who has
worked with Bell Choirs for many years. She had taken a job as Organist and Choir Director
at the Methodist Church on Court Street in Utica and they wanted to start a Bell Choir. So
she took a class at Westminister Choir College in NJ and started one in Utica. Since then
she has started ones in two other local churches in our area.

At the concert in Norway, Cathy will give the attendees some information on the history of
Bells dating back over 2000 years ago. In Cathy’s choir, each player is responsible for two
notes and the flats and sharps that go with each note. Her choir plays with three octaves of
bells, as well as three octaves of hand chimes.

The Carillon group has been in existence more than 20 years and at our concert in Norway,
they will be playing various selections of Christmas music. They will also use the bells to
accompany a Christmas Carol Sing-a-long, with Cathy talking about the history of the Carols.

All Are Welcome!!

No admission charge and a Refreshment Time will follow the concert.
